Quilt 9: Multitudes Quilt

Created this quilt with absolutely no plan other than using up lots of blue fabric. I slowly worked on it in between other projects as a sort of mindless, space-filler to keep my hands busy. Over time this quilt has become an unexpected vessel to ground and hold a lot.

“a lot,” // she’s a lot, // that was a lot,
this place can be a lot, // there’s been a lot going on
— “a lot” often comes with a negative edginess and for me (someone who can be a lot, feel a lot) the stitched message seemed to resonate. It was a message sent to me by a friend. It stuck with me and bears repeating:
I love hearing from you, you contain multitudes.

Media: Mixed fabric scraps, cotton batting, machine pieced and quilted, hand embroidered
Completed: March 2024

Much love to: my friend Paul and everyone else in my life who embraces the multitudes.
And to Jennie who helped me capture this one on a cloudy Spring day in a strangers front yard next to my studio.
